Star-Spangled Sailabration!

PROJECT: Star-Spangled Sailabration

GOAL: International Visiting Tall Ship Media Coordination

Baltimore, birthplace of the Star Spangled Banner, sprang to maritime life in commemoration of the War of 1812 with over 30 ships visiting the city's Inner Harbor, Fells Point and Canton areas. Sponsored by the U. S. Navy, there were several components, including sensitive diplomatic communications, to this major city-wide even which brought $166 million to the region in economic impact.

Lisa worked with the Star-Spangled 200 Committee and Visit Baltimore, as the media relations representative on behalf of all visiting international tall ships. Meeting and working with the diplomatic community in Washington, D.C., and the visiting ships' Naval attaches, as well as crew representatives while they were at sea, she coordinated media credentials for major broadcast and print coverage.

From on-board overnight passage Lisa coordinated for WBAL-TV from Norfolk, VA to Baltimore, where she managed marine logistics with Vane Bros. to carry press via tug boats to each tall ship waiting to join the Parade of Sail into the Inner Harbor, this work was several months in the making. Lisa successfully developed and coordinated segments, and attendant logistics, with over dozen vessels, arranged interviews and boarded media from major broadcast networks and local stations and print media. She assisted SS200 with access for Al Roker of Today to be on board Brazil's Cisne Branco and Mexico's Cuauhtomec. Baltimore Sun

In addition, Lisa proposed and created a goodwill event for major Sail Baltimore stakeholders, benefactors and sponsors on board the USG Barque Eagle, which included a creative twist - significant works of fine art - oil paintings related to the War of 1812 - on loan from the Annapolis Collection Gallery by artist Ann Munro Wood.
