Community Outreach, Public Affairs

PROJECT(s): Various

GOAL: To engage the public, legislators, celebrity support and/or the media

With Project JumpStart, Baltimore's preeminent workforce development program, Lisa was tasked with attracting TV's Mike Rowe to headline a major gala fundraising event, create a promotional and media outreach campaign featuring students and business partners, and creatively consult on major aspects of the gala. Media coverage, including an in-depth piece from WBAL-TV's Lisa Robinson, partnering with Fogo de Chão for a stakeholder announcement reception and brainstorming with the Mike Henderson, President of Associated Builders and Contractors/Baltimore and key team members on all aspects of this never-before-done event, was the confluence of Lisa's skill set in its entirety. From working with Mike Rowe's staff in Los Angeles to coordinating media coverage on-location in Baltimore to exercising her creative muscle in gala theme vision boards, Project JumpStart has been fulfilling to promote while engaging Baltimore residents in a successful workforce development program.

Whether rebranding Scientific Plant Services with a new logo and website copy and assisting them with refining their legislative messages, or building a multi-pronged community outreach initiative with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Maryland Public Television, Lisa has enjoyed and excelled at engaging community partners in order to amplify a message or position.

Her award-winning six week, limited budget campaign for PBS' ...And Thou Shalt Honor required a strategic navigation away from press coverage alone toward grassroots marketing - and it worked! The MPT Foundation gave Lisa the authority and flexibility to pursue effective statewide partnerships which resulted in a 110% increase (Nielsen rated) in that broadcast time-slot for MPT - and PBS producer feedback that MPT did the single most aggressive outreach campaign in the country. Six weeks, two team members: goals exceeded.

From promoting the Deaf Driver Visor Card for the MD Sheriffs Association, launching the East Baltimore Development Initiative media initiatives and panel discussions, engineering the components for MPT's Navigating the Road t o Reentry: A Community Approach, the national pet-industry media outreach for the Pets on Trains Act or developing key programs to engage the community on drought education campaigns nationwide and for Maryland's green industry, bringing people and projects together is one of the pillars of Lisa's practice.
